This beautiful large Eagle and Frog Mask is hand-carved by Haida artist Lyle Campbell. It has been carved from red cedar, painted in black and red acrylic, and adorned with red cedar bark.

The Eagle Symbol is known as “The master of skies” and is a symbol of great significance. He is believed to be the creature with the closest relationship with the creator. Soaring to great heights, he can travel between the physical and the spiritual world. He is said to be a messenger to the creator.

The Frog symbolizes wealth and abundance. When a Frog is portrayed in art with his tongue touching another creature, it represents the sharing of knowledge and power.

The mask, excluding the cedar bark, measures approximately 21 inches or 53 1/4 centimeters high, 14 inches or 35 1/2 centimeters wide, and 14 inches or 35 1/2 centimeters deep. Including the cedar bark, the mask measures about 51 inches or 129 1/2 centimeters high, 19 inches or 48 1/4 centimeters wide, and 14 inches or 35 1/2 centimeters deep. It weighs about 4 kilograms or 8 1/2 pounds.
