This Eagle dish/bowl was hand-carved in 1985 by Haida artist Earl Jones. It has been carved from argillite and features 4 inlays of ivory and 6 onlays of polished abalone shell. It was purchased from a collection and is in good condition.
The Eagle Symbol is known as “The master of skies” and is a symbol of great significance. He is believed to be the creature with the closest relationship with the creator. Soaring to great heights, he can travel between the physical and the spiritual world. He is said to be a messenger to the creator.

This bowl measures approximately 4 1/4 inches or 10 3/4 centimeters long, 3 inches or 7 3/4 centimeters wide, and 1 inch or 2 1/2 centimeters high.
